Much of Galena today is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As you enter downtown Galena, you will find a mining boomtown untouched by time since its mid 19th-century heyday. Homes and buildings have been meticulously preserved. Tourism is now the city's main attraction, with specialty shops, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants appealing to the more than 1 million visitors annually. Nearby you'll find ample outdoor activities at Apple River Canyon State Park, four challenging world-class golf courses, equestrian trails, and even some downhill ski runs. Each unit has air-conditioning, cable TV with VCR/DVD player, stereo system with CD player, telephone, gas fireplace and a partial kitchen with microwave & dishwasher. Studio units have a maximum occupancy of 2 and have a murphy bed, 1 bath and a partial kitchen. There are no washers or dryers in these units but there are free laundry facilities located on site. Pets are not allowed. Smoking is not allowed inside the units, only outside. The resort has a barbecue area and offers video rentals. A car is required to fully enjoy the area.
