Chatham Bars Inn was originally developed in 1914, as a semi-private hunting lodge for wealthy Boston vacationers. Early advertisements boasted of "plastered, soundproof accommodations with electric lights, steam heat, long distance telephones, and private bathrooms featuring both fresh and salt water baths." The hotel soon operated its own farm, which provided fresh produce and dairy products for guests’ meals. It quickly earned a reputation as Cape Cod’s most elegant, self-contained tourist destination. Later, the Inn’s appeal was expanded with the addition of an adjacent 9-hole golf course.
Under its present owner, only the third in the past century, Chatham Bars Inn has undergone a $100 million renovation that has left nothing untouched. All rooms in the Main Inn were completely renovated, as were its restaurants and public rooms. The cottages were completely redesigned and reconstructed from scratch. Old world charm was retained but updated with every modern convenience and amenity. Since then, the Inn has won numerous awards including the prestigious Forbes Four-Star award. It has become a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and has been named one of the top resorts in the world by Travel & Leisure Magazine, and the best hotel on Cape Cod by Boston Magazine. Built at the turn of the century, the historic Main Inn exudes sophistication, elegance, and charm. Its original grand staircase leads from the stately reception area to two floors of recently renovated guest rooms, each offering 21st century, state-of-the-art conveniences and amenities. The Main Inn is home to many of the Inn’s amenities including STARS, our award-winning steak restaurant, The Sacred Cod, the fitness center, and our Signature Gift Shop. The South Lounge offers guests an excellent perch for relaxing in front of the fire, afternoon tea, or a family board game. The outside Veranda, overlooking the open Atlantic, serves cocktails and lighter fare during the warmer months. Offer is based on a Single or Double Occupancy in am Ocean View Rooms in the Main Inn.
All of our Ocean View Main Inn rooms are located on the second and third floor of the Historic Main Inn. These rooms feature their own private deck or balcony overlooking Chatham Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean where you may enjoy morning coffee watching the panoramic sunrise or pre-dinner cocktails as you watch the seals frolic in the surf. All offer queen size beds, fine linens and lush marble vanities in the bath. Room Amenities: Offer is based on single/double occupancy in an Ocean View Room located in the Main Inn. A tax and service charge of $49.- per night is additional. All reservations are subject to availability. |
